*Native OS video decoding; measured on Apple Silicon with a 4K H.264 loop.

Everything a live wallpaper should be. Nothing it shouldn't.

A tiny Rust core drives your OS's own hardware video player. No Electron, no background bloat, no accounts.

Multi-monitor, per-screen 4K/8K

One video on all screens, or a different .mp4/.webm/.mov on each. Cover, Contain or Fill scaling per display. Hot-plug a monitor and it just works.

Smart 0% GPU auto-pause

Covered by a fullscreen or maximized app? That display's video pauses and decoding stops. Optional pause on battery. Resumes the instant your desktop is visible again.

Built-in idle screensaver

No .saver or .scr files to fight the OS over. After 1–30 minutes idle your wallpapers rise above every window, cursor hidden, and vanish on the first touch.

Silent menu bar / tray mode

Close the window and Animi disappears from the Dock and Cmd+Tab, living quietly in the menu bar or system tray with Pause, Mute and Quit one click away.

Remembers everything

Your per-display videos, scaling modes and settings are saved locally. Quit, reboot, re-plug a monitor — Animi restores it all automatically.

Open source & pay what you want

MIT licensed. Build it yourself for free, or grab the pre-built installer and chip in whatever you think it's worth — including $0.

Pay what you want. Even $0.

Animi is free software. The installers are offered on a pay-what-you-want basis so I can keep building fast, ad-free, open-source tools. Choose an amount in the next step — the download starts either way.

macOS 12+ · Apple Silicon & Intel (universal). The first launch may say the app is from an unidentified developer: right-click the app → Open. Animi is not yet notarized because it is independently built and signed.
Windows 10/11 · 64-bit. SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC" for new open-source apps: click More info → Run anyway. An .msi is also attached to every release.
