How it works

  1. Pick a type and type the value. EAN-13, UPC-A and the other numeric codes take the number with or without its check digit; the tool computes or verifies it.
  2. Adjust size and colours. Set bar width, height, margins and colours. The readout shows the printed size in millimetres for your printer's DPI.
  3. Download or print. Save a crisp PNG or SVG named after the code, or paste a list into the batch sheet and print the grid. Everything is drawn on your device.

Questions, answered

Is anything I type uploaded?

No. Barcode Maker for Labels runs entirely in your browser. The values you type and the lists you load are processed with JavaScript on your device and never sent to a server. You can disconnect from the internet and it keeps working.

Is it really free, with no watermark?

Yes. It is open source under the MIT license, with no account, no limits, no ads and no watermark at any resolution. If it saves you a paid subscription, you can say thanks on Ko-fi.

Do I need to type the check digit?

No. For EAN-13 enter 12 digits, for UPC-A 11, for EAN-8 7 and for ITF-14 13, and the check digit is computed with the standard modulo 10 rule. If you enter the full number, the tool verifies the last digit and offers the corrected one when it is wrong. Note that a valid check digit does not make a number officially registered; retail product numbers come from GS1.

What size should I print it at?

Choose your printer's DPI and the readout shows the printed size and narrow bar width in millimetres. EAN and UPC are designed for a narrow bar of about 0.33 mm (allowed range 0.26 to 0.66 mm). Print the PNG at 100% scale, or use the SVG, which stays sharp at any size. Always test-scan a label before printing a large batch.

Does it work offline?

Yes. After your first visit the page is cached by a service worker, so it loads without a connection. You can also install it from your browser's menu as an app.

Was this written by AI?

Yes. Barcode Maker for Labels was generated by Claude Code from a written specification inside an automated pipeline, with a test suite that runs in a real browser. The full source is on GitHub, so you can read every line before you trust it with your data.
