MP3 Cutter and Audio Trimmer

Drop an audio file here

MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC, as far as your browser can decode it. Nothing is uploaded: the file stays on this device.

How it works

  1. Open an audio file. Drop an MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC file on the page. Your browser decodes it and draws the waveform.
  2. Mark the part you want. Drag the start and end handles or type exact times, play the selection, and add a fade in or out if you like.
  3. Cut and save. The clip is encoded as MP3 or WAV on your device and saved with "-cut" added to the original name.

Questions, answered

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. MP3 Cutter and Audio Trimmer runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read into memory on your device, processed with JavaScript, and never sent to a server. You can disconnect from the internet and it keeps working.

Is it really free?

Yes. It is open source under the MIT license, with no account, no limits and no ads. If it saves you a paid subscription, you can say thanks on Ko-fi.

Does it work offline?

Yes. After your first visit the page is cached by a service worker, so it loads without a connection. You can also install it from your browser's menu as an app.

Which audio formats can I cut?

Anything your browser can decode: MP3 and WAV everywhere, and usually M4A, AAC, OGG, Opus and FLAC too. Some browsers cannot read certain M4A or FLAC files; you will see a plain message if that happens. You can save the result as MP3 (96 to 320 kbps) or as lossless 16-bit WAV, at the sample rate of the original.

Can I make a ringtone or remove a part in the middle?

Yes. For a ringtone, select about 30 seconds, add a short fade in and fade out, and save it as MP3. To remove a section instead, choose "Delete the selection, keep the rest" and the part between the handles is left out. Long files such as two-hour podcasts need a lot of memory once decoded, so a shorter file works best on phones.

Was this written by AI?

Yes. MP3 Cutter and Audio Trimmer was generated by Claude Code from a written specification inside an automated pipeline, with a test suite that runs in a real browser. The full source is on GitHub, so you can read every line before you trust it with your files.
