Merge PDF files
Drop PDFs here or choose files
Add two or more PDFs. Nothing is uploaded, everything happens on this device.
No files yet. Your PDFs stay on this device: they are read in this tab and never sent anywhere.
Drag a row by its handle or use the arrow buttons to change the order. Press Delete on a focused row to remove it. Page ranges look like 1-3, 5.
Add at least two PDF files to merge.
How it works
- Add your PDFs. Drop two or more files on the page or pick them. Each one is opened in this tab to count its pages; nothing is uploaded.
- Set the order. Drag rows or use the arrow buttons, and optionally keep only some pages of a file, like
2-5. - Merge and download. The pages are copied into one new PDF on your device. Save it as merged.pdf.
Questions, answered
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Private PDF Merger runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read into memory on your device, processed with JavaScript, and never sent to a server. You can disconnect from the internet and it keeps working.
Is it really free? Are there file or size limits?
Yes, it is free. It is open source under the MIT license, with no account, no daily task limit and no ads. The only limit is your device's memory: past about 300 MB in total the page warns you, because a phone or older laptop may run out. If it saves you a paid subscription, you can say thanks on Ko-fi.
Can I merge only some pages of a file?
Yes. Each file has a Pages field that starts as "all". Type ranges such as 2-5 or 1, 3, 6-8 to keep only those pages, in that order. Invalid ranges are flagged right next to the field.
Why does a file say it is password protected?
Encrypted PDFs cannot be copied without the password, and this tool does not remove protection. Open the file in a PDF reader, save an unprotected copy, and add that instead.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After your first visit the page is cached by a service worker, so it loads without a connection. You can also install it from your browser's menu as an app. On iPhone or iPad, Safari may open the merged PDF in a new tab: use Share, then Save to Files.
Was this written by AI?
Yes. Private PDF Merger was generated by Claude Code from a written specification inside an automated pipeline, with a test suite that runs in a real browser. The full source is on GitHub, so you can read every line before you trust it with your files.
Built by one person, given away for free
Private PDF Merger is a free alternative to paid tools like iLovePDF Merge PDF. If it earns a place in your bookmarks, a coffee keeps the updates coming.
