No files yet. Add some above: they stay on your device and are never uploaded.

No password is added: anyone you send it to can open it with built-in tools.

    How it works

    1. Add files and folders. Drop them on the box, or use Choose files or Choose folder. Folder paths are kept, and you can remove anything before zipping.
    2. Name it and pick a level. Type an archive name and choose Store, Fast or Best. Photos, videos, PDFs and other ZIPs are stored as they are, since squeezing them again gains almost nothing.
    3. Create and download. Your browser builds the ZIP in the background, shows the size before and after, and saves it to your device. Nothing is uploaded.

    Questions, answered

    Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Create ZIP File Online runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read into memory on your device, compressed with JavaScript, and never sent to a server. You can disconnect from the internet and it keeps working.

Is there a limit on how many files or how big they can be?

There is no file count limit. Because the whole archive is built in memory, the tool stops above 2 GB in total and warns on phones and tablets above about 500 MB, where the browser may run out of memory.

Can I zip a whole folder and keep its subfolders?

Yes. Drop a folder on the box or use Choose folder. Every file keeps its path inside the archive, for example project/notes/notes.txt. Hidden system files such as .DS_Store and Thumbs.db are skipped unless you untick that option.

Will the person I send it to be able to open it?

Yes. It is a standard ZIP with no password, so Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, Android and iOS open it with their built-in tools. File names with accents or other scripts are stored as UTF-8 so they show correctly.

Is it really free? Does it work offline?

Yes to both. It is open source under the MIT license, with no account, no limits on use and no ads. After your first visit the page is cached by a service worker, so it loads without a connection, and you can install it as an app from your browser's menu.

    Was this written by AI?

Yes. Create ZIP File Online was generated by Claude Code from a written specification inside an automated pipeline, with a test suite that runs in a real browser. The full source is on GitHub, so you can read every line before you trust it with your files.
